What Is Herringbone Flooring?

Herringbone is a parquet style flooring where rectangular boards are laid in an alternating zig-zag pattern. Popular throughout luxury interiors for centuries, Herringbone remains one of the UK’s most loved flooring types today.
Contemporary Herringbone styles are available to be made up of luxury vinyl tile (LVT), laminate, SPC and engineered wood providing a premium feel with a highly practical daily use.

Herringbone Flooring vs Chevron Flooring

Despite their similarities herringbone and chevron flooring are not one of the same patterns. Herringbone flooring is constructed from rectangular planks, that interlock with one another at 90-degree angles, whereas chevron flooring uses angled planks, which form a continuous pattern, which is shaped like a V.
Herringbone flooring provides more of a classic parquet effect and tends to be easier to fit than chevron flooring.

Why Choose Herringbone Flooring?

In contemporary homes or interiors that require commercial specification Herringbone flooring has numerous benefits:
• Classic parquet looks and design
• Adds depth and texture to rooms
• Modern and classic look, will suit both types of interiors
• Comes in LVT and SPC with waterproof capabilities
• Can be used with underfloor heating
• Very durable and low maintenance
• Can be chosen from a wide variety of wood, laminate and vinyl finishes
Makes a great statement piece in Hallways, Kitchens, Living rooms, bedrooms, Offices and Shops

Waterproof Herringbone Flooring

Waterproof herringbone flooring is a very popular feature in UK homes and this is a result of modern LVT & SPC systems being exceptionally resilient.
Offering the look of real wood without any of the maintenance and resistance to scratching, water and general daily wear, waterproof herringbone is an ideal choice for family rooms, kitchens, bathrooms and utility areas.

Herringbone Flooring Installation

Most modern herringbone floors use click systems which are generally quicker and easier to lay than traditional parquet. The service of a professional fitter is recommended to get a good result, especially when fitting in a large room or an intricate pattern.
Ensure the subfloor is flat, clean and dry to get the most effective use of your floor for several years.
